Mom's Recipe for Creamy Cucumbers

I made this yummy recipe yesterday with cucumbers right out of the garden. If ya like cucumbers, give this a try.

2 english cucumbers sliced very thin
1/2 a small red onion sliced very thin
1 cup sour cream
2 T red wine vinegar
salt & pepper
fresh dill weed to taste

Slice the cucumbers and sprinkle with salt. Refrigerate in a covered bowl for 2-3 hours. This will take any bitterness and extra water from the cucumbers. Drain on a paper towel and put into a resealable dish. Stir all the other ingredients together and chill and enjoy.

I had to Post this Pic for KrisAnn. I knew she would truly appreciate the peg legged pants....Which she has told me for years that they were coming back in style! Surely, Katie Holmes would know!

Fishlake 2008

Well, Tis the season for family reunions again and thank heavens we have got both of ours done and over with for the year. It always really seems like a good idea to have a camp-out family reunion, but after 3 days, fish and family reunions stink! For the past 2 weekends we have been in Fishlake at the Pace cabin. First, for my family reunion, and then for the Bassett family reunion. We had a great time going but are glad to be back home. For some unknown reason Avery screams instead of sleeps when she in not in her own bed; So that makes vacations not so fun. We hiked a couple miles up to a hidden beaver pond to fish and I packed Ave's almost the entire way; which also remind me I need to work out more! It was beautiful up there, until the thunder and lightening and rain spooked us all down the trail back to the cabin. Well, maybe next year we will be smart enough to just all meet for dinner like normal families!

I sat Avery down for 2 minutes to help Brent hook-up the boat and she found some delicious dirt to eat! YUMMMY! She loves getting all dirty. She looks just like my little brother in this picture!

Daddy and Ave's driving the mini-ex. Ave's is destined to be a dirt-girl. She gets fuming mad if
Brent starts up the 4-wheeler and doesn't offer to take her for a ride. We are just in the process of trying to finish our backyard so Avery has a place to play. We especially need somewhere that she can't escape from since she has started crawling. Daddy still calls her "bunches of lunches" as you can see from the pictures her fat little cheeks are getting "sooooo skinny" now that she is everywhere. She is getting so smart and now she can wave bye bye and she says mom and dad and she absolutely knows what she is saying when she says it. She has quite a little personality and she is totally in charge of Brent and I. She knows what she wants and knows exactly how to get it.

This was our backyard just one month ago. Brent has worked his guts out to finish the backyard for Ave's. Thanks Brent. I love you!

It looks like Mommy is squishing Ave's again.

We finally got our lawn planted a couple weeks ago and lookie how good it is growing! I think these two can't wait to wrestle on it.
My first cupcake for Daddy's 30th birthday. Dang he is an old fart. But I think that we are gonna keep him because we just got him broke to lead.
Whoa baby! Sugar High!

Mama's girl.

This last weekend we took Avery on her 1st fishing and boating trip. We went over to Otter Creek, which is just below fish lake for the afternoon. As you can tell, she had a great time. About 5 minutes after this picture Grandpa was showing Ave's his fish and it flipped out of his hands and landed right in mine and Avery's lap. I was screaming and the fish was flipping and flopping and Grandpa was trying to catch the fish and it scared the daylights out of Ave's. It took a good 5 minutes for her dry sobs to stop. We caught our limit in no time with Grampy's expert fishing tips and a little luck. Avery hates her life jacket with a passion! I think it squishes her little pot belly. (Her daddy doesn't call her bunches of lunches for nothing!) We have got to get her used to that life jacket because I am planning on a lot of boating this summer.

No wonder he can't catch any fish. He's always busy baiting my hook! What a good man!
Bos must have got some luck back because he finally started to catch some fish! They usually know when it is him on the other end. He usually tries to rub on me for luck.
